There are two types of thoshiba laptops. One type is the original toshiba-build laptop. This type uses a toshiba-bios. The acpi-module is toshiba_acpi. The other type is the compal-oem-type. This machines are build for toshiba by compal and use a Phoenix bios. There is a acpi-module which is not included in the generic kernel: omnibook. Both modules are unmaintained. toshiba_acpi does not work on 64 Bit systems at all. Both modules are old-style acpi-modules (/proc/omnibook ...). Both families need the acpi-module to enable the builtin bluetooth devices (which work fine with kernel drivers once they are enabled). The multimedia-keys do not work. Changing the display-brightness does not work without the acpi-modules either. RFKill-switch, .... All the code is there (in both modules). They need to be upstreamed and adapted to the new acpi-framework. The omnibook-module does work on many other compal-build machines too: HP Omnibook, ... so not only toshiba-users would benefit. cu romal www.romal.de blog.romal.de Greg KH wrote: > On Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 10:31:08AM -0300, Renato S. Hi Greg! My multimedia keys is not recognized, my Fn+Fx also don't work (so is impossible change brigthness, turn on/off touchpad, change volume/mute, change video out). I don't get any output using xev after press Fn or Multimedia keys. My battery is drainned (with laptop powered-off). I think that is a good idea up-to-date Toshiba_acpi, because it is outdated at this moment. I think that Robert and Rafal have some requests too :-) Best regards, Renato S. Yamane
